Setting the Standard for Junior Player Development

Launched in 2010, and now offering 5 locations in NYC, Long Island and Westchester, JMTA is the Tri-state area's #1 program for developing nationally and internationally competitive juniors, as well as junior players of all ages and levels who aspire to be the best that they can be.

JMTA was conceived and developed by John McEnroe, in partnership with SPORTIME Clubs, and is directed by the legend himself, along with JMTA Executive Director, Patrick McEnroe, SPORTIME Executive Director of Tennis, Mike Barrell, and a world-class team of tennis and athletic development coaches. JMTA has produced hundreds of players who have won titles at the sectional, national, intercollegiate and international levels, and thousands more who have fallen in love with the life-long sport of tennis!

JMTA’s training program helps players reach their full potential, while supporting them in their academic and off-court pursuits.

John McEnroe and SPORTIME

John McEnroe, a native of Douglaston, Queens, is one of the greatest tennis players of all time, and the greatest player to ever come out of New York. John’s passion and belief is that great players can be developed in urban settings while still having the opportunity to live at home, pursue their educational goals, and participate in a variety of sports and extracurricular activities. Founded on these beliefs, in September 2010, John, in partnership with SPORTIME Clubs, launched the John McEnroe Tennis Academy in his hometown of New York City.

Johnny Mac Tennis Project 2026 Year-End Campaign - More than a Game

One opportunity on court can change what's possible off it. Every week, the Johnny Mac Tennis Project (JMTP) introduces more than 6,000 NYC children to tennis, creating pathways to mentorship, education, and opportunities beyond the court. Help us raise $50,000 by December 31 to put racquets in kids' hands, bring free tennis instruction to NYC students, and provide the coaching, mentorship, and educational support that help young players grow on and off the court.
